TRAINING & ASSESSMENT IN PIPELINE INSPECTION & SURVEY BY CCTV

A single-person consulting operation based south-west of Brisbane in Queensland. Established in 2000, I have enjoyed the personal contact with our clients and hope to increase our client base even further in the coming years. Together with the Victorian RTO, Water Training Australia, we offer our clients a wide range of services even though our main focus is in training and development for the Water Industry. We are able to provide consultancy services in Construction, Maintenance, OH&S, Quality and Management.

John Allen
Training & Development Consultant

John Allen has over 45 years experience in the Water and Civil Construction Industries in various positions with a number of employers.

John began his career with Sydney Water Corporation (nee MWS&DB) in 1970, accepted redundancy in 2000. John was employed as the Senior Training Consultant Workskills Training Centre in Sydney. John has since worked with:

 

  •  Dalby Agricultural College as the Water Industry Trainer / Assessor

  •  Gold Coast Water as a Project Manager / Project Office Administration

  •  McCourt Dando Pty Ltd as the Queensland General Manager

  •  Unitywater Queensland as the Manager Workplace Health & Safety

​John's main focus in on Conduit Condition Evaluation and Rehabilitation of Wastewater Systems.

John enjoys the delivery of training and assessment especially "when the penny drops" and the "light goes on". This is when he knows that he has got the message across to the students which is generally transferred on site in the practical sessions.

John loves to travel and meet people from different backgrounds which expands his knowledge in the delivery of presentations to meet the requirements of the audience.

John Allen has been employed in Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong delivering training, assessment and consultancy services in Conduit Condition Evaluation by the use of CCTV equipment and data capture software.

John designed and developed a Code of Practice for Hong Kong with a colleague Ir Dr King Wong. It has been published and is now in its 4th Edition. 

John has been inaugurated as a Regional Representative (Australia) to the International Institute of Utility Specialists for the session of 2019 to 2023. This inauguration ceremony took place in Quang Zou China in November 2018.

John has qualifications in the following:

  • Diploma in Water Industry Operations

  • Diploma in Business (Frontline Management)

  • Diploma in Training & Assessment Systems

  •  Certificate IV in Training & Assessment Systems (LLN)

  • Certificate IV in OH&S Systems

  • Various Statements of Attainment

  • Certificates of Competency in Rigging, Scaffolding, Dogging and Loadshifting.

John is a member of a number of professional institutions:

  •  Water Industry Operators Association (WIOA)

  •  International Institute of Utility Specialists (IIUS) SE Asia

  •  Associate Consultant UTI (HK)

  • John is an active member within the Water Industry and donates his time for the improvement and adoption of technology for the rehabilitation of infrastructure assets.
